Notre Dame Academic Forum with Tom Brokaw
September 22nd, 2005 by Ethan

This afternoon kicked off the semi-public celebration of Father John I. Jenkins’ inauguration as the 17th President of the University of Notre Dame. The Academic Forum (entitled “Why God? Understanding Religion and Enacting Faith in a Plural World”) held this afternoon was a panel discussion about religious conflict and the universal need for harmony between religious groups. It was enlightening and thought provoking. Tom Brokaw gracefully moderated the panel. Though I didn’t find myself agreeing with any one of the distinguished panelists throughout the entire discussion, I personally enjoyed many of the thoughtful remarks of Professor Naomi Chazan who has spent great deal of effort on working toward peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Without writing a full-blown essay, I will simply say that I really enjoyed much of the discussion. You can read the full, official details about the forum and participants here.
