Updates on the Way

It’s been a long time coming, but I think that I will have some time to work on the site over the impending Holiday break. I haven’t updated or posted in a long time for a number of reasons including technological difficulties, busy-ness and just plain not caring.

Anyway, I look forward to getting back into periodic written updates as well as posting some photos. Look for my quiet return to the blogosphere in the next month or so.

Dave Matthews Band

Saturday morning Caroline and I took off for Noblesville to see the Dave Matthews Band concert. They are my favorite band, so I was naturally excited. We dropped Callie off at Camp K9 in Mishawaka, put the top down on the Jeep and hit the road. We had plenty of time to eat and shop in Noblesville before the show. After last year’s monsoon during the concert, we decided to get pavillion tickets this time and I’m glad we did–the view was much better and it was less distracting. We stayed at a nice little Bed & Breakfast named Sycamore Knoll. They had a great breakfast of french toast (a personal favorite) with homemade orange syrup. After breakfast on Sunday we packed up and headed for home.

Too bad every weekend can’t be that much fun! There are a few more concert pictures here.

Humvee Military Training

Fully Armored 1151 Humvee

For those who don’t know, I am spending the summer working for AM General at the Humvee plant in Mishawaka. Yesterday and today I left the plant where I spent the first part of the week in order to attend a training course on the capabilities of the military vehicle. The guys who instructed us are the same that train Navy SEALS and Special Ops forces. They also travel the globe consulting military mechanics and are available to them any time, day or night, to help troubleshoot major mechanical problems. We spent a day in the classroom and a bit of time in the garage looking at components. Today (the second day) we went out to the testing track and were able to drive the vehicles over obstacles and then went out onto some trails. It was a lot of fun and a real treat. I know that there are a lot of employees who don’t get this experience and I’m just sumer help!
